Frequently Asked Questions
We’re so glad you asked!
01. DO YOU WORK WITH MEN?
While we focus on women’s health, we also work with men. We love to work with couples and families that are all changing their health together
02. DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
We do not take insurance. The depth of care that we offer and the time it takes to uncover & heal health issues at the root does not align with health insurance reimbursement algoritms.
We do however accept most HSAFSA plans. We can also produce Superbills and will guide you through the process of getting a referral from your doctor and how to submit this along with the superbill to your insurance.
If you want to check with your insurance ahead of time on reimbursement, ask what they typical cover for “medical nutrition therapy with a Registered Dietitian, prescribed by your doctor.
03. DO YOU SEE PATIENTS IN PERSON OR TELEHEALTH ONLY?
We see patients both virtually and in person. We have an office in Old Town Pasadena, where Nicole sees clients in person, as well as in Prescott, Arizona, where Destiny sees clients in person.
We do see the majority of our clients via telehealth, as we have found that most people prefer the convenience.
04. WHAT ARE YOU RATES? DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?
Our rates vary depending on the case, and are competitve with dietitians with expertise and nearly 20 years of experience. It will be roughly $700-850/month for 1-6 months for most clients to realize their health goals.
We accept all debit & redit cards, including Amex
We do offer a sliding scale for those who we feel would benefit from our counseling, and lack the means to pay our full rates.
05. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DIETITIAN & A NUTRITIONIST?
There is no state or federal licensure system for nutritionists. However dietitians must attain national and state licensure through the Commision on Dietetic Registration, and maintain this through 75 units of continuing education/5 years.
Dietitians are required to have an undergraduate degree in science, with required hemistry, physiology and math courses akin to pre-med students. Additionally, as of January 2024, to become an RD, a Master’s Degree is required. After the undergraduate program and graduate school, in order to sit for the Registration Exam, prospective dietitians must complete a 1 year dietetic internship, and then pass the Registration Exam.
Note that all functional medicine & nutrition training is completed as post-graduate studies.(Good thing we are nerds!)
